Opal is a little different than most dogs. Due to improper breeding practices, she is both blind and deaf, which can present some unique challenges for both her and her parents. But that didn’t stop Christina Bray and her husband from adopting her from an Idaho rescue group specializing in placing special needs dogs.

Even though Opal experiences things in ways her parents can’t fully grasp, being different doesn’t mean Opal doesn’t enjoy the world and people around her. She may not see or hear her dad coming home, but Opal knows when he is near. When Opal senses him, she lets him know how much he is missed and loved in a beautiful way that her parents caught on camera.

Ok here is the video you all wanted again! Opal (deaf and blind 8 month old pup) waiting for her dad to get home. She waits in the front yard and waits to either feel or smell his car idk how she can tell the difference because neighbor cars pull up and she doesn’t care. She then smells him and goes crazy. It’s very sweet!! Our new daily routine heheh #spoiledpups #blindanddeaf #opalthedoublemerle #whitedogs #aussie #dogsofig #puppies #beautifuldog #dogsarethebest #spokane #spokanedogs #socute

Opal can sense when her dad is home through a combination of smell and feeling the vibrations caused by his car arriving. As Christina said, it’s the best part of her day to see Opal greet her husband in the yard each day. Even if Opal doesn’t see or hear, she still has her other senses, and she shows her love for her family in ways that anyone can feel.

It appears that Opal’s parents are just as in love with her as she is with them, and together they are proof that love can conquer all. We should all be so lucky to have someone as happy to see us each day as Opal is to see her dad.
