Videos Comparing Millennials to Gen Z Goes Viral for All the Right Reasons

Source: @acooz31 on TikTok

I’ll be honest, few things in this world make me feel older than TikTok does. I’m right in the middle of the Millennial age group, starting my 30’s and discovering new and exciting ways to hurt my back, but no amount of joint pain could make me feel more ancient than five minutes scrolling through this app and softly muttering “What? … Why?”

You gotta understand, once you hit 30, everyone under college-graduate age starts to look like an infant. It’s uncomfortable. Partially because the entire vibe is just so far removed from what I remember about being that age. And I’m definitely not the only one to notice.

Enter excellent dancer Angie Cocuzza with her comparison TikTok:

For all you Gen Z kids out there, you gotta understand that when most of us Millennials were 13, social media was barely a thing. Smart phone technology was a luxury the majority of us couldn’t afford.

We didn’t come up in a world where everyone was broadcasting every moment of their lives. So we didn’t really try all that hard to be impressive performers.

And our dancing? It looked like this:

We were awkward little weirdos with very little fashion sense and zero coordination.

The pictures and videos that DO survive from that era are mostly kept hidden away, lest we all cringe ourselves to death.

Personally, I’m not sure what to make of this generation who’s never known a world without social media. But I’ll give ’em this – they’re workin’ hard at it. And this series of dance comparisons has aged me so badly I now need a long nap.

But what do you think of all this?
