When Tumblr Went Nuclear on the Bullsh*t That Is Women’s Clothing Sizes

Most women I know could rant for days about how hard it is to buy clothes without trying them on. Sizing is all over the place, and in a world where being an “average” size should mean being able to confidently choose a tag that says “Medium,” nothing could be further from the truth.

Most women’s clothes are sized extremely small. I am a woman of average height (5’7) with a below-average bust who wears, at most places, a size 8 or 10.

I have to buy extra large shirts most places I go. Seriously.

Which is why I, and all women, adore this Tumblr thread for calling out the whole sh*tshow for exactly what it is – utter nonsense invented to make us feel bad about our bodies so we keep buying diet products.

And not only that, but there’s a very good reason that people on television and in magazines look like a million bucks no matter what they’re wearing.

The moment of realization began when a plus-sized girl won a fashion consultation with What Not To Wear’s Clinton Kelly.

She first wanted to know how celebs make every outfit look perfect on their bodies.

Answer: tailoring.

Like, if you have money you can just…ignore the size. That’s a thing!

And we’re all shocked that they’re altering EVERYTHING, right?

Not just dresses and formal clothes?

I kind of am…

Don’t do this to yourself, friends.

Know that off-the-rack clothes aren’t designed to fit ANY body perfectly, they’re designed to fit all bodies, sort of.

Nothing is wrong with you; they’re just shitty clothes.

There are so many things they should be teaching you in school but they’re not.

These are the kinds of things the internet should be used for, y’all. For good.

Did any of this come as a surprise to you? Whether it did or didn’t, share with a girlfriend who could use the boost today!
