I’m sure it would come as no surprise to you if something happened to somebody one time, and they formed a theory, put it on social media, and everyone played along immediately.
Well that’s exactly what happened with all this Vans business. It all started when @lanacutherlip posted this little gem:
Did you know it doesn’t matter how you throw your vans they will land facing up pic.twitter.com/nKVJCncW4H
— lana m!sses tøp (@lanacutherlip) March 2, 2019
Of course, everyone else needed to get it on the action:
I learned today that no matter how you throw your vans they always land right side up… pic.twitter.com/1um0UXpbxW

And a new meme was born.
if you throw your vans they will always land correctly. @VANS_66 #vanschallenge pic.twitter.com/4D26roC8rJ

Naturally, parents just didn’t understand.
I had to explain to my mom why I was throwing all my Van’s on the floor at 12AM. #Vanschallenge pic.twitter.com/USwUJkpyPX

But neither did anyone else.
#VansChallenge what kind of wizardry is this pic.twitter.com/y9X2uE4GOe

Some people even took the challenge to new heights…
This is definitely why I went to journalism school! #amnewsers #vans #VansChallenge (? @cenzo86) pic.twitter.com/aCMMDvWVEV

While others thought they had it figured out…
Your Vans sneakers will always land right side up after you throw them, and @Ibelievthehype has the proof. https://t.co/8DQS5tfDtj

And of course, everyone else tried to debunk the theory (yes! science!)
I must have the old update…. #VansChallenge #Debunked pic.twitter.com/Xb0PISUnyG

It just didn’t work every time
Debunked. #VansChallenge pic.twitter.com/1yHF24S0zX

?? Didn’t work for classic, high top, or off brand vans? How y’all doing this tf #VansChallenge #vans pic.twitter.com/95KXbU206Z

But this is Twitter after all, so we had to up the ante somehow…
I’ll see your vans and raise you crocs pic.twitter.com/du9W6d7d68
— Dak (@RidiculousDak) March 5, 2019
But the Crocs theory seemed to hold up…
#VansChallenge failed, but my @Crocs never fail pic.twitter.com/xFSBtXx0nB

Mind blown…it works with CROCS TOO!!! pic.twitter.com/SwcxvF8aP8

Oh, Twitter… sometimes I worry about you. But you do keep me entertained…
