I’ve heard it said before that there’s no such thing as a bad divorce. As in, if someone felt the need to end a marriage, then that marriage needed to end, and was not a mistake.

I think I tend to agree with that wisdom and would apply it across the board to relationships generally. Some things just need to be over, especially when they get abusive, controlling, dangerous, or some combination of the three. Or, if you just plain know that you gotta leave, but you can’t face the person you’re leaving.
