There are all kinds of super cute “how we met” stories out there, but some are just a little bit weirder than others. Like this tale from Twitter user @Coll3dnG, or rather, from her grandma.
my grandma just asked me if i had a boyfriend and i was like “no” and she was like “well i went to a random funeral because i was bored and that’s how i met your grandfather” ??????

I guess you could say she was “dead” serious about it?
But wait till you hear some of the other stories that came in the replies.
10. Run away with me
Why this could be a whole miniseries.
My grandparents eloped. She was a nurse in a burn unit during WWII, and he was an officer in the RAF. He visited one of his men and saw “the most ethereal woman”, so cute. They were both engaged to others at the time; scandal! Old style love stories are the best.

9. In loving memory
Wow, that’s quite the legacy to carry with you.
my parents met at a funeral ! their mutual friend committed suicide, so when they had me they gave me the same middle name as her.

8. Take a seat
Hey, whatever works.
my grandparents met when my papa refused to give up his seat on the bus for her which has to be my grandma’s villain origin story

7. Square dance times!
Wow.
My grandmother and her sister were dating friends. At some point (NO one would tell me when), they swapped partners. Both couples married, were best friends, and seemed happy for 30+ years

6. A sordid affair
…and they lived happily ever after?
No names or specifics, but 2 relatives of mine met when they discovered their then-spouses were having an affair with each other… they’ve been married now for upwards of 40 years.

5. In the rain
It’s a shame they couldn’t leave you any vowels in their will.
My grndmthr was stndng on the corner waiting 4 a bus n the rain. My grndfthr drove by her in his fncy car & splashed mud all over her dress. He stopped and offered 2 pay 2 clean her dress. She refused. He kept apologizing day after day, w flowers, etc. The rest is history.

4. One night stand
I aspire to this level of devil-may-care.
Man my grandparents met in a bar. My grandpa walked up to my grandma and exchanged their hellos and after that he said “i am going to marry you” and she basically said “aw fuck it, let’s do it” and they been married ever since then

3. All in the family
Wait, what?
My grandma was dating two of my grandfather’s cousins but chose him instead ??♀️ also told him to propose cause she had other offers but would prefer him, he did almost immediately

2. Oh, baby
I think this is the plot to a Doctor Who episode if I remember correctly.
My mom was a war widow with two small daughters. My dad babysat so she could date his good friend. The babysitter turned out to be the one she preferred, and it was more than mutual.
